Valcore’s Never Ending Story
May 10 2000 to July 9th 2008
Valcore is a puppy I kept from Reuben and Marra. I’ve always loved the movie “The Never Ending Story“. It is a story of a troubled boy that dives into a wonderous fantasy world through the pages of a mysterious book. The boy rides a
white fantasy dog called Falkor.
I played around with the name of Falkor and came up with the name Valcore. I registered him with the name of Valcore’s Never Ending Story.
He was a never ending story. He was a very out going puppy and knew what he wanted. He had a habit of getting into trouble a lot during his puppy years. There was the time he decided to dig a hold to china in the bathroom floor between the sink and wall.
Another time he wanted to play and I was busy working on the computer. He decided to grab my shampoos and conditioners from the bathroom and took it to his create. He had a ball putting holes in everyone of the bottles and rolling in the mess he made. He was very pleased with him self. Valore like his dad had a strong bond with me and was at my side where ever I went.
Valcore had problems with Perianal fistulas which are tunnel-like formations in the skin and deeper tissues that surround the anal area of dogs. The vet and I fought this for 3 years and we finally thought we had it under control as he did not have a problem with them for over a year.
One day Valcore just fell to the ground and he appeared as if in a daze and disoriented. I rushed him to the vet and he had a temperature of 104. They took blood work and did X-rays but nothing appeared out of the ordinary. He was put on antibiotics and told me to monitor him. After a couple of days he again had a spike temperature and seemed disoriented I called the vet and he said bring him in. At the vets office he collapsed and had to be carried in to the exam room. The vet examined him all around his mid section as he felt bloated. He put a needled in his side and it came back filled with blood. The vet said he was bleeding internally and there was not much we could do. The bleeding was causing the spiked temperature. I asked what would cause and the vet was not sure, maybe some type of infection. I think it was related to the Perianal fistulas and it was caused by something related to the Perianal fistulas. So that day I had to say good by to my beloved Valcore.
